A little bit more about us

The Compass Co. was born out of years of work in workforce support and disability employment services. Through that experience, one thing became clear: many people need more flexible, individualized support than traditional systems are able to provide.

That insight shaped the creation of The Compass Co. — a place focused on practical, human-centered guidance for individuals entering or re-entering the workforce.

We offer the Work Forward program and 1:1 virtual employment coaching to help child support participants move forward with clarity, structure, and confidence.

Mindy McCord

Director of Employment Services

I’ve been an Employment Specialist with TCC for over three years, helping individuals navigate the job search and move toward meaningful, sustainable employment. I love the practical side of this work, taking a challenge that feels overwhelming and helping someone figure out exactly what to do next.

As the Director of Employment Services for The Compass Co., I bring that same hands-on approach to supporting child support participants who are working toward employment. Through one-on-one coaching, I help participants tackle the real challenges that come up during the employment process, from strengthening a resume and completing applications to preparing for interviews and communicating with potential employers.

I’m also the point of contact for child support programs interested in bringing Work Forward or 1:1 Employment Coaching into their programs. I enjoy working with program teams to figure out what will work best for their participants and helping make the process simple from start to finish.

My approach is straightforward, individualized, and focused on progress. I meet people where they are, help them recognize what they bring to the table, and work alongside them to address whatever may be standing between them and employment. And when a participant lands the job they've been working toward, that's a pretty great feeling and one of my favorite parts of this work.

I’m a proud UW–Stevens Point alumna, as well as a business owner and mom. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors, playing racquet sports, cooking and preserving, and getting my hands dirty in the garden.
